Grand Opera House was opened in 1883 and burned down in 1889.  Located at 333 W. Superior St. it was the pride of Duluth and brought first class entertainment to the city.  The auditorium had 1000 seats which were usually filled plus housed other organizations in the four story structure.  Duluth's population at the time was 13,000 people.
