1917 Model T Helped lead Duluth to less horses. In 1901 Duluth had 53,000 people and 1 car in 1925 Duluth had 100,000 people and 20,000 cars.  The transfer bridge could not keep up and had to be replaced with the lift bridge in 1929.  Horse licenses for carriages dropped from about 955 in 1918 to 805 in 1919.Zenith Web Site
